4/8/2023 0 Comments Landing rate fsx![]() ![]() Believe it or not in Courchevel I'm able to make "landing rates" of ~1200 POSITIVE FPM is we look only at the vertical speed. ![]() This means the value can never be zero and it's a much more meaningful landing rate value. When the wheels touch the ground, we calculate the rate of descent by the rate of change in radio altimeter height. In our VA we have thought about this, and we came to the conclusion that the most meaningful way of getting the landing rate is to look at the radio altimeter value. I'm not sure exactly where the problem is, but I'd like to talk to you about a possible solution for this. Energy management, and as a consequence speed management, is critical during descent, approach and landing phases. Unfortunately, with SIM ACARS, when this happens, the landing rate is stored as "zero" in the web site. This means that landing with a positive vertical speed is not so unusual any more. ![]() X-Plane has sloped runways almost everywhere, and some runways in the world are VERY sloped (like Courchevel, in France). As you probably know, with the launch of X-Plane 11, a lot of people are shifting from the "old" FSX and/or P3D to X-Plane. ![]()
